For safety reasons, lithium batteries must be subjected to a series of design tests per sub-section 38.3 of the United Nations (UN) Manual of Tests and Criteria. As of January 1, 2020, HP is obliged to provide UN 38.3 lithium battery test summary reports on demand.

Please note that these tests and the resulting test reports apply exclusively to batteries, not notebooks or other battery-containing IT equipment.

HP publishes all relevant UN38.3 test summary reports for its lithium ion batteries at the HP UN38.3 Test Summary webpage. There you will also find some useful tips and tricks on how to locate the battery identification numbers necessary to navigate the search engine.

In case a UN report is missing from the webpage, you cannot easily locate itor you are looking for a test report summary for a lithium metal batteryplease contact the Sustainability and Compliance Center, using our standardized webform, available at https://sustainability.ext.hp.com/en/support/tickets/new.
